Rajya Sabha finally pass the bill to give full autonomy to the Indian Institute of Management in which they are able to grant degrees to the students. Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved to implement the law. Now, IIMs can expand their roots in the foreign soil also. This would be a major change as instead of degrees IIM is supposed to give degrees now onwards for the flagship courses. Firstly, the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 9th February and also by Rajya Sabha on 19th December 2017. The final approval is done by our Honorable President of India. Through this IIM Bill Act 2017 around ten thousand students will going to get the benefit. Students of the 20 IIM campus of batches 2016-18 & 2017-19 will be awarded Masters of Business Administration degree instead of Post PGDM.

Through this bill not only IIM students are satisfied but this also open gate for higher studies. Now all the branches of IIM in India will give the degrees to the next batch 2018-20 as well. IIM Bill Act crosses the half way by getting approval from Rajya Sabha and after getting approval from the President, IIM Act will be applied. Highlights of The IIM Bill Act 2017:

(1) Now onwards IIM has the power to offer degrees to the students. Till now, all the Indian Institute of Management did not have the right to offer management degrees so they are offering PGDM and fellow programme in management. These PGDM and PGPBM are treated as degrees equivalent to MBA and PhD but not universally accepted.

(2) Through the IIM Bill 2017, IIMs has the full autonomy to extend it to foreign soil.

(3) IIM is managed by the board. The board will select the chairperson and director. IIM alumni and management experts will be the part of board discussion.

(4) IIMs have to submit the report at the end of the year in Parliament where auditor general will check their accounts. In these reports IIMs includes their objective and steps taken to complete it.

(5) Council will going to give lights on: (a) selection criteria and process to give admission, (b) academic content (c) guidelines for exam.

Pursue Higher Studies:

Through IIM Act 2017 diploma holders will also pursuing higher studies in abroad. Students thoses who have diplomas couldn't make it for the higher studies as diplomas are not universally acceptable but now they will be awarded by the MBA degrees instead of diploma.

Job Offers From Abroad Companies:

International companies are looking to recruit students with the MBA degrees but as they are diploma holders and these abroad companies have their own requirements. By getting MBA degree from their institution will help them to get the job more easily. These management companies are the entertain those who have MBA degrees.

Can IIMs Spread Their Roots?

This will prove to be a great step for the Management schools as under IIM Bill Act 2017 they have the legal right to offer degrees to the students instead of diploma. IIMs degree have universal acceptance from now onwards and they don't need any additional support of certificate. Now IIMs can spread their branches in abroad also making it easy for the students to get the job. Through this bill board of governors got the power to keep an eye on the activities done by the IIM colleges. Now students of IIM will not face any hindrance as they have MBA degrees now.

There are some well reputed colleges in India of IIM which needs no introduction as they are best in their field. These prestigious colleges get good placement offers and a top management education is given here to the students. Through the implementation of the IIM Bill all the other IIMs colleges who are lagging in offering the good placements offers.
